Life Skills, Self-Esteem, Awareness, Leadership, Community

At the ranch we offer a safe environment that will allow children and youth to become more socially and emotionally aware of their strengths, interests and abilities through the use of creative arts, instruction in mindfulness, nature based activities and animal facilitated learning components. We encourage each and every participant to discover their own Unlimited Potential in their own ways and at their own pace. Often our younger clients come for reasons such as stress reduction, anxiety, boundaries, and learning to have healthy relationships and better life skills.

The safety and well - being of all 2 and 4 legged participants comes before any of the services offered, therefore, every participant will be presented with the appropriate information regarding proper safety precautions when participating in any experiential, hands on activities offered at Silver Valley Ranch. We offer success coaching to individual clients, school groups, team building for clubs or teams as well as life skill development for child and youth care programs.

All Youth clients work with our equine team on the ground, coaching sessions do not include any mounted or therapeutic riding exercises! No previous horse experience is necessary!

I not only learnt more about mindfulness and connection, but Meagan taught me to be confident
and to speak my truth. She taught me what body language signifies and how it affects us and also
how we use it. Now, I feel more confident, I feel truthful with myself, and I think I have grown so much more with the help of Meagan. I am eternally grateful for what she’s done for me. I would recommend Meagan to friends and family.

Equine Facilitated Coaching is not a replacement to Therapy, Coaching focuses on giving you the tools, support , and accountability to realign your brain and your body, provide a space for deep and connected healing and to help you achieve your present and future goals.

This Year was truly exciting as we partnered up with W.G Murdoch School to create a 6 week ranch program for their students based on teaching the students life skills and self regulation techniques, effective communication in relationships and leadership skills all guided by our beautiful equine healing herd!

We also had an amazing opportunity to start our Pawsitive Pals Program where the ranch pack of pups got to take the ranch into the school and help students on test days reduce test anxiety, bring stress levels to a manageable place by present moment awareness techniques and of course give all the snuggles any kid might need to brighten up their day!

In the spring of 2015, with the help of a grant, we were able to provide a group of students the opportunity to engage in an equine therapy program. We engaged the services of Meagan Saum and Silver Valley Ranch for program where students went out once a week for a period of 8 weeks for approximately one hour.

We found Meagan transparent in their approach to equine therapy and open to our needs as a school. She was knowledgeable, experienced and professional and was highly communicative with the school and the guidance counselors who attended with the students.

The students that participated were enthusiastic (they were always excited and looking forward to the day they got to go to the ranch) and found it enjoyable and meaningful. It was observed that these students were also better at connecting with each other through this time and were engaged in the process.
